Xenoblade Chronicles 3D

Of all the re-releases that have come out this year, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D's existence is at least one of the more justified. It was practically doomed to niche status from the start, originally released at the tail-end of the Wii's life-cycle (and as a GameStop exclusive, no less) when most people had already packed away their Wii Sports machines and donated them to their local thrift shop. Thankfully, Nintendo has ported over the fantastic JRPG to handhelds, giving it a second chance as an exclusive showpiece for the New Nintendo 3DS.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is massive, sporting one of the most interesting locales ever designed. Its sprawling swamps and rolling hills - all set on the backs of two titan-sized dead gods and filled with beasts both great and small - are practically begging to be conquered. While its lush, verdant landscapes lose a little luster and detail on the smaller screen, what you trade in graphical quality you gain back in portability. Being able to take an adventure of this magnificent scope with you wherever you go is a technical marvel. Don't miss it.
